Harvest is a Shopify theme for grocers, farm shops and local food delivery. This guide covers installing the theme, its settings, and the grocery features that need a little setup: delivery scheduling, the next-delivery countdown, the box builder, the reorder page and gift options. Harvest needs no metafields.
Version 2.0.0 · Updated 2026-09-26
| Preset | Look |
|---|---|
| Harvest | Warm cream background, deep leaf-green accent and ink-brown text. The only preset. |
Color schemes live under Theme settings > Colors. Every section has a Color scheme setting, so you can alternate light and dark bands down a page without editing any colors. Changing a scheme updates every section that uses it. Harvest ships with these schemes:
| Scheme | Colors | Used by default on |
|---|---|---|
| Scheme 1 | Cream background, ink-brown text | Most sections |
| Scheme 2 | Pale green background, ink-brown text | Nothing by default; use it for alternating bands |
| Scheme 3 | Leaf-green background, cream text | Hero and Next delivery slot |
| Scheme 4 | Tomato-red background, warm white text | Nothing by default; use it for offers |
| Scheme 5 | Dark ink background, cream text | Nothing by default; use it for a dark band or footer |
Each scheme sets Background, Text, Headings, Links, Borders and Shadow, plus background, label and border colors for the primary and secondary buttons.
Before you edit theme code, duplicate the theme (Actions > Duplicate) and work on the copy. Code changes are not covered by theme updates or support.
Open the theme editor and select the gear icon to find these groups.
| Group | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Typography | Primary font (Work Sans by default), used for headings and body text. |
| Layout | Page width (Narrow or Wide) and Page margin. |
| Colors | Color schemes and Input corner radius. |
| Logo | Logo image and Logo width. A transparent PNG or SVG looks best. |
| Delivery | Order cutoff time, Days with no delivery, Minimum lead time and Furthest bookable day. See Delivery scheduling below. |
| Free shipping bar | Show free shipping progress, Free shipping threshold, Progress message and Unlocked message. |
Add sections from Add section in the theme editor. Every section has its own Color scheme.
| Section | Where | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| Hero | Any page | Image, Image overlay opacity, Heading, Text, Button label and Button link. |
| Featured collection | Any page | Heading, Collection, Products to show and Columns. |
| Box builder | Any page | Heading, Collection and Minimum items in box. See Box builder below. |
| Next delivery slot | Home, product and collection pages | Color scheme. Timing comes from Theme settings > Delivery. |
| Collections grid | Any page | Grid item width (Small or Large) and Grid spacing. |
| Custom section | Any page | Background image, plus Group (Column or Row) and Text blocks to build your own layout. |
| Recently viewed | Product page | Heading, Products to show and Columns. |
| Delivery slot | Cart page | Heading and Time slots. |
| Gift options | Cart page | Heading, Offer gift wrap, Offer a gift note, Placeholder and Gift note maximum length. |
| Reorder | Pages | Heading, Past orders to show and Show "Add all to cart" button. |
| Contact form | Pages | Show phone field and Show order number field. |
The home page starts with Next delivery slot, Hero, Featured collection and Box builder. The product page has Next delivery slot, Product and Recently viewed. The cart page has Cart, Delivery slot and Gift options.
Harvest lets shoppers choose a delivery date and time slot in the cart, and shows a countdown to the next order cut-off. Both read the same shop-wide rules under Theme settings > Delivery.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Order cutoff time (24h, e.g. 15:00) | 15:00 | Orders placed after this time roll to the next available delivery day. |
| Days with no delivery (comma separated) | Sunday | Full weekday names, for example Sunday, Monday. These days are skipped. |
| Minimum lead time (days) | 1 | How many days out the earliest delivery is for an order placed before the cut-off. |
| Furthest bookable day (days ahead) | 14 | The latest date a shopper can pick. |
The shopper's choice is saved as the cart attributes Delivery date and Time slot. They appear on the order in your admin. Checkout stays unavailable until a valid date and time slot are chosen.
Harvest records the chosen date and slot; it does not limit how many orders each slot takes or set delivery rates. Set up local delivery and its rates under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
The countdown counts to your real order cut-off, the time that decides which day an order is delivered. It never invents a deadline.
Box builder: add the Box builder section and choose a Collection. Shoppers set a quantity for each product and add everything to the cart in one go. Set Minimum items in box to require a minimum; the add button stays disabled until the box reaches it. Set it to 0 for no minimum.
Reorder page: create a page under Online Store > Pages (for example "Your usual") and choose the page.reorder template. Signed-in customers see the products from their recent orders, one entry per variant, each with a one-tap add button. Show "Add all to cart" adds everything at once and tells the shopper about anything that is no longer available. Visitors who are not signed in see a link to sign in.
The reorder page reads order history from customer accounts, so turn on customer accounts first. Past orders to show sets how many recent orders it looks at.
Harvest needs no metafields or metaobjects, so there is nothing to create under Settings > Custom data. Its grocery features only write these cart attributes, which appear on each order:
| Cart attribute | Written by | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Delivery date | Delivery slot section | The chosen delivery date |
| Time slot | Delivery slot section | One of the time slots you set |
| Gift wrap | Gift options section | Yes when ticked, otherwise not set |
| Gift note | Gift options section | The shopper's message, up to the maximum length you set |
Saving a gift note never clears the delivery date or time slot, and the other way round.
Harvest uses a cart page. Quantities update in place without reloading the page.
Gift options add a gift wrap checkbox and a gift note to the cart. In Harvest it is the Gift options section on the cart template.
Settings: Heading, Offer gift wrap, Offer a gift note (both on by default), Placeholder for the note field, and Gift note maximum length (200 characters by default).
Choices are saved as the cart attributes Gift wrap (Yes when ticked) and Gift note. They appear on the order in your admin and on packing slips from apps that print cart attributes. Keep the names exactly as they are so those apps can read them.
Gift wrap is a free option by default. To charge for wrapping, create a gift wrap product and sell it as a separate item.
The free shipping progress bar is set under Theme settings > Free shipping bar. It shows on the cart page and tells shoppers how much more they need to spend, then confirms when free shipping is unlocked.
The bar only displays a message. Free shipping itself comes from your shipping rates or an automatic discount, so set the same threshold under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
Harvest uses Shopify's customer accounts. Sign-in, order history, order status, addresses, profile and the Buy again action are hosted by Shopify, so they keep working through theme updates. The theme has no legacy account templates to set up or maintain.
The account icon only shows while customer accounts are turned on. If it is missing, check Settings > Customer accounts first.
Harvest includes the storefront features every Shopify Theme Store theme provides. They use Shopify's own data and apps, so there is nothing extra to install. Where a feature has options, you find them in the theme editor on the section or block that shows it.
If your copy of Harvest is missing one of these, check your theme library for an update. Updates add a new copy with your settings carried over, so you can review it before publishing.
Harvest is built to be used with a keyboard and screen readers, and animations stop for visitors who prefer reduced motion. Images load at the size the screen needs, and images below the fold load as the shopper scrolls.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does Harvest need any apps? | No. Delivery scheduling, the box builder, reorder and gift options all work without an app. Filters use Shopify's own Search & Discovery app, which is free. |
| Why does the countdown show the day after tomorrow? | The cut-off for today has passed, today is a day with no delivery, or your minimum lead time pushes the date out. Check Theme settings > Delivery and your store time zone. |
| Where do I see the delivery date on an order? | Open the order in your admin. Delivery date and Time slot are listed with the order's additional details. |
| Can I use the old customer account pages? | No. Harvest uses Shopify's customer accounts, which Shopify hosts. Turn them on under Settings > Customer accounts. |
| How do I update Harvest? | When a new version is out, the theme library shows an update. Updating adds a new copy with your settings carried over, so you can check it before publishing. |
