Ledger is a Shopify theme for wholesale, trade and B2B stores that sell by the case. This guide covers installing the theme, its settings, and the trade features that need a little setup: the quick-order table, trade facts from product metafields and Shopify B2B, the trade account page and gift options.
Version 1.0.0 · Updated 2026-09-27
| Preset | Look |
|---|---|
| Ledger | Navy and amber on a paper-white ground, Work Sans body text and Libre Franklin headings. The only preset. |
Color schemes live under Theme settings > Colors. Every section has a Color scheme setting, so you can alternate light and dark bands down a page without editing any colors. Changing a scheme updates every section that uses it. Ledger ships with these schemes:
| Scheme | Colors | Used by default on |
|---|---|---|
| Scheme 1 | White background, navy text, amber accent | Most sections |
| Scheme 2 | Light grey background, navy text, amber accent | Quick order |
| Scheme 3 | Navy background, pale text, amber accent | Trade band |
| Scheme 4 | Near-black background, pale text, amber accent | Nothing by default; use it for a dark band |
| Scheme 5 | Amber background, dark brown text, navy accent | Nothing by default; use it for a call to action |
Each scheme sets Background, Text, Headings, Signature color, Primary button background, Primary button label and Borders. Every scheme in the preset meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
Before you edit theme code, duplicate the theme (Actions > Duplicate) and work on the copy. Code changes are not covered by theme updates or support.
Open the theme editor and select the gear icon to find these groups.
| Group | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Typography | Primary font (Work Sans by default) and Headings font (Libre Franklin by default). |
| Layout | Page width (Narrow or Wide) and Page margin. |
| Colors | Page Background and Foreground, Input corner radius, and the trade color schemes. |
| Cart | Free-shipping progress bar: Show free-shipping progress in the cart, Free-shipping threshold, Progress message and Unlocked message. |
| Trade account | Trade account application page (linked from the Trade band and Trade facts sections) and Show a wholesale pricing note to logged-out visitors. |
Add sections from Add section in the theme editor.
| Section | Where | Settings |
|---|---|---|
| Quick order | Any page | Heading, Subheading, Collection and Color scheme. |
| Trade band | Any page | Heading, Copy for logged-out visitors, Copy for signed-in customers, Trade account link, Trade account link label and Color scheme, plus Step blocks. |
| Trade facts | Product page | Heading, Trade account link, Trade account link label and Color scheme. |
| Recently viewed | Product page | Heading, Products to show and Color scheme. |
| Collections grid | Any page | Grid item width (Small or Large) and Grid spacing. |
| Custom section | Any page | Background image, plus Group (Column or Row) and Text blocks to build your own layout. |
| Contact form | Pages | Show phone field, Show business details (company name, trade account number and enquiry type) and Color scheme. |
The home page starts with Quick order and Trade band. The product page has Product, Trade facts and Recently viewed. Two extra page templates are included: page.quick-order (a page with the Quick order table) and page.trade-account (a page with the Trade band).
Quick order: add the Quick order section, or create a page with the page.quick-order template, and choose a Collection. Every variant in the collection gets a row with a quantity field. Quantities snap to each variant's order multiple, stop at its maximum, show the next price break, and every row with a quantity is added to the cart in one step.
Trade facts: on the product page, this section shows case pack, minimum order, order multiple, volume pricing and lead time. It shows nothing when a product has none of these, so it is safe on every product.
Create these product metafield definitions under Settings > Custom data > Products, then fill them in on each product. A missing value just hides that fact.
| Name | Namespace and key | Type | Example and use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Case size | ledger.case_size | Integer | 24. Shown as the case pack. |
| Minimum quantity | ledger.min_qty | Integer | 48. The minimum order when Shopify B2B sets no minimum. |
| Quantity break | ledger.qty_break | Integer | 12. The order multiple and quick-order step when Shopify B2B sets no increment. |
| Lead time | ledger.lead_time | Single line text | 3-5 business days. |
If you use Shopify B2B (companies and catalogs), Ledger reads each buyer's quantity rules and volume pricing from their catalog. The catalog minimum, increment and maximum take priority over ledger.min_qty and ledger.qty_break, and catalog price breaks appear as Volume pricing. Case size and lead time always come from the metafields.
Ledger uses a full cart page, so buyers can review a large order before checkout. There is no slide-out cart drawer.
Gift options add a gift wrap checkbox and a gift note to the cart. In Ledger it is the Gift wrap and note block inside the Cart section. Both options are off by default: select the block on the cart template and turn them on.
Settings: Offer gift wrap, Offer a gift note, Heading, Gift wrap checkbox label, Gift note placeholder, and Gift note maximum length (200 characters by default). Choices save as the buyer types.
Choices are saved as the cart attributes Gift wrap (Yes when ticked) and Gift note. They appear on the order in your admin and on packing slips from apps that print cart attributes. Keep the names exactly as they are so those apps can read them.
Gift wrap is a free option by default. To charge for wrapping, create a gift wrap product and sell it as a separate item.
The free shipping progress bar is set under Theme settings > Cart. It shows on the cart page and tells shoppers how much more they need to spend, then confirms when free shipping is unlocked.
The bar only displays a message. Free shipping itself comes from your shipping rates or an automatic discount, so set the same threshold under Settings > Shipping and delivery.
Ledger uses Shopify's customer accounts. Sign-in, order history, order status, addresses, profile and the Buy again action are hosted by Shopify, so they keep working through theme updates. The theme has no legacy account templates to set up or maintain.
The account icon only shows while customer accounts are turned on. If it is missing, check Settings > Customer accounts first.
Ledger includes the storefront features every Shopify Theme Store theme provides. They use Shopify's own data and apps, so there is nothing extra to install. Where a feature has options, you find them in the theme editor on the section or block that shows it.
If your copy of Ledger is missing one of these, check your theme library for an update. Updates add a new copy with your settings carried over, so you can review it before publishing.
Ledger is built to be used with a keyboard and screen readers, and animations stop for visitors who prefer reduced motion. Images load at the size the screen needs, and images below the fold load as the shopper scrolls.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Does Ledger need Shopify B2B? | No. Without B2B catalogs, minimums and order multiples come from the ledger metafields. With B2B, each buyer's catalog rules and price breaks are used instead. |
| Why is Trade facts empty on a product? | The product has no ledger metafield values and no B2B quantity rules or price breaks. Fill in at least one. |
| Can buyers pay on terms? | Payment terms come from Shopify B2B company settings, not the theme. The Trade band only explains the process. |
| Can I use the old customer account pages? | No. Ledger uses Shopify's customer accounts, which Shopify hosts and which B2B buyers also use. Turn them on under Settings > Customer accounts. |
| How do I update Ledger? | When a new version is out, the theme library shows an update. Updating adds a new copy with your settings carried over, so you can check it before publishing. |
