PWA: Home Screen App questions
Short answers about setup, plans, data and what the app changes in your store. For step-by-step setup, read the setup guide.
- Is this a native app?
- No. It makes your Shopify storefront installable as a web app. Shoppers add it to their home screen and it opens full screen with your icon and name, without the App Store or Google Play.
- Does it send push notifications?
- No. Web push needs a service worker served from your storefront’s own domain, which a Shopify app cannot provide. We do not sell or promise push.
- How do iPhone shoppers install it?
- Safari does not show an install prompt, so the banner explains the steps: tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Do I need to edit theme code?
- No. Turn on the app embed in the theme editor under App embeds. To remove it, turn the embed off.
- Can I change or hide the banner?
- Yes. Set the banner title and text in Branding, or turn the banner off and keep the store installable from the browser menu. A shopper who dismisses it does not see it again for 7 days.
- What does the install funnel count?
- On Advanced, the last 30 days of manifest loads, banners shown, banners accepted, installs and launches from the home screen. Events are counts per store; no shopper is identified.
- How much does it cost?
- Basic $9.99, Advanced $14.99, Pro $29.99 per month, each with a 7-day free trial, billed by Shopify.
